TAYIR “THE DARK SIDE” EP
Two stories, shared by two voices - casked together by two sounds. Tayir’s debut EP on Equanimity blends together the day and night, encapsulated by a duality of light and dark. Embodied with quirky sounds and dissected melodies, the Berlin duo merge together a selection of abstract feels, coolly unified in its electronic stance.
Daylight comes humorous as ‘Angry Customer’: the melody dawns and blossoms amongst the hi-hats and whimsical harmonics and paves the way to the angry voice - expressive vocabulary we’ve certainly felt at least once in our lives; a lighter heart is carried throughout with the big, bouncy bassline straight to the end.
Shooting straight to ‘The Dark Side’, we take a deeper turn with the harder kicks, slicker scratches and a harmony which canvases from the bottom to the top and all over again, as the vocals revel in admitting ‘at night I do crazy things’. An anecdote to all ourselves as we slip from the sun into the shadows.
