Label Talk with Unseen

Today we invite you to discover a new label: Unseen, thanks to a little chat with label founder Citizen Kain.

We are curious about this new label. Who is behind it, how did the creation happen and what was the idea for this project?

For a long time I had the idea to create a label but I was a bit afraid by the amount of work it would represent to manage the whole thing. But when my manager shared his motivation to launch and handle our own imprint, we decided to take the leap and created Unseen together.

Why the name ‘Unseen’?

UNSEEN is a label that tells a story of old and new, of physical and intangible, modern frequencies and future sounds. UNSEEN is the collision between art and the digital world. Our music blurs boundaries, our community is one of pure energy. The label’s true vision is to give room for creative minds to explore themselves and their sounds.

What kind of music are you aiming to release?

The aim of the label is to release a fat, sharp, punchy and melodic techno.

Could you tell us more about the producers you already signed & the first releases on your imprint?

The first release is by myself, it includes a monster remix by my close friend The Element. The second EP is by the amazing American talent Rinzen, including a remix by myself. The third EP will be again by myself including a remixer but we don’t know yet who it will be… And the fourth planned EP will be a huge one by Heik, another very good friend! We want it to be a family affair :)

As mentioned above, the first EP on Unseen by yourself (Citizen Kain): ‘Kiss Me Again’, includes a remix by The Element. Could you tell us how this collaboration came to life and how this EP showcases the sound of the label?

The Element and myself are very close, we speak almost everyday. It was natural for us to release something together and it actually happened really fast and easily. By the way, we have more stuff planned together in the future ;)

The second EP ‘LA 2052’, by Rinzen, was just released. The artwork shows a scenery which could be an extract from a science fiction movie. Could you tell us about the story behind this EP?

The inspiration for this EP stems from Rinzen’s love of science fiction and dystopian literature. He was attempting to capture a near-future vision of Los Angeles, in order to illustrate both the promise and the peril of our potential future.

With so many labels and releases out there, what more do you aim to bring to the scene thanks to Unseen?

We love melodic techno but it’s often too deep for us, we like it when it’s melodic but also very powerful. In other words our aim is to combine all these things and to release really strong music for the dancefloor.
