Lockdown live streams: our favourites

Whilst confined to our homes, DJs have been helping us keep sane via their various live streams across the world. The Melodic Diggers team have chosen the favourites we've watched, listened (and danced!) to over the past few weeks.

Antivirus Dance Radio

It’s been one of the most prominent live streams across our social media channels. Out of the 37 (and counting), we've especially loved Pergola and Stereocalypse.

Pergola | 15th march 2020

Part of the Borders Of Light family, Pergola graced us with just under an hour of solid grooves and a nice infusion of disco towards the end.

Claudio Coccoluto | 21st March 2020

Coccoluto kept to his signature style for his stream – a vinyl set-up formed of soulful house, Detroit house and some light disco and funk. ‘Strings Of Life’ by Francesco Tristano – a piano version of Derrick May’s original track played finished the two hours for a soul-soothing finish.

Stereocalypse | 28th march 2020

The producer behind ‘Blue Dome Escargot’, ‘Domino’ and ‘Lone Solo Drummer’ delivered an effortlessly smooth two hours of melodic beauty.

boiler room

The number one place for live music streams, Boiler Room continues to do what it does best - connecting us with music from the comfort of our home. Our two most favourite? Dixon and Palms Trax.

dixon | april 3rd 2020

Innervisions’ co-boss showed us, once again, how to be ahead of the game. Although not streamed live, it was for a good reason: we were treated to an hour’s visual experience, taking Dixon underwater. The reason as said by himself, was so he would ‘fall out of focus’ to prevent us looking at CDJs in action for 60 minutes.

A nice touch was the release of the Transmoderna album straight after the stream which included the tracks played, with all profits going to the artists featured.

Palms Trax | 5th April 2020

Giving us our uplifting dose of disco was Germany’s Palms Trax. Live from his impressive home studio, we were given two wonderful hours of funk and soul. The perfect ending delivered with ‘Mental Remedy - The Sun The Moon Our Souls’.

United We Stream

A special stream series dedicated to looking after Berlin’s arts culture, raising money to support clubs, artists and organisers in one of underground music’s biggest cities. We were especially taken aback by Keinemusik and Jennifer Cardini.

keinemusik | april 10th 2020

Adam Port, &ME, Rampa and Reznik delighted our ears with five hours of music, with a beautiful background to match, gluing us to our seats for the whole duration. Located in the Stadtbad Oderberger Straße swimming pool, lighting and visuals were courtesy of Monja Gentschow, Jana Marei and o_.o._o.

Jennifer Cardini | April 11th 2020

Correspondent boss and Berlin resident Jennifer Cardini is no stranger to making crowds move, and yet again, did no wrong. Two hours of sublime class and energy, located in ://about blank club with some psychedelic surroundings - this stream really made us miss being out on the dancefloor. (Set begins from four hours in the linked video).

JOB JOBSE | APRIL 22ND 2020

Musical maestro Jobse brightened up our Wednesday with his hour mix, taking the dance floor at Leipzig at Institut für Zukunft all to himself. An hour’s energetic and cutting blend of trance, acid and techno.

andhim | march 27th 2020

One half of andhim, Simon Haehnel, gave us a lively two hours of viewing, showing us his sophisticated musical knowledge with a selection ranging from Henrik Schwarz and Space Dimension Controller, to classics such as ‘Around The World and ‘Music Sounds Better With You’. Simon’s high spirits throughout, with the setup in a shop also made it enjoyable to watch and listen.

Jonas Saalbach | march 31st 2020

Jonas’ Pearls and Sencha’ mix, from his self-proclaimed bedroom jungle, delivered a powerful hour and half of flawless blending with a hard-hitting groove, surrounded with plants which also couldn’t stop dancing. A superb selection with Jonas’ track ‘Keep Spirit High’ being the standout.

Dr. Rubinstein | wednesday 22nd april

Now her fourth ‘Quarantine FM’, the Berlin wonderwoman gave us two fun-filled hours of vinyl, playing a fusion of house, techno, and acid. A must tune-in for your Wednesday evenings.

tale of us | wednesday 22nd april

It was one of the most eagerly anticipated live streams, and Tale Of Us didn’t disappoint. A slick two-hour production, with even slicker sounds, was streamed on behalf of their special Unity Live series to raise money for Lombardia’s Coronavirus relief fund. Throughout, Carmine and Matteo showcased the energy and chemistry which has made them so successful to this day (with a guest appearance from their cat). Tracks ranged from artists like Moby, to Theus Mago, Four Tet and Matheme.

david kochs | 25th april 2020

We’re great fans of Koch’s forward-feeling approach to his music and sets - as so expressed in his track ‘Ghost Trance’ and his mix on our channel. On behalf of supporting Augsburg’s club and culture scene, he played in an empty club surrounded by beautiful coloured lights for a thoroughly executed hour. Sadly, we are not able to re-stream this but the set is still stuck in our heads.

D. Tiffany | 25th april 2020

The Canadian artist gave us just what we wanted for a sunny Saturday afternoon – a perfect balance of house and disco with an overflowing amount of groove. Streamed via Resident Advisor’s special Club Quarantäne, you could almost feel as if you were in Panorama Bar with eyes shut.

a special shout out to:

DGTL Festival | april 11th & 12th 2020

Although having to cancel this year’s addition, DGTL festival transformed into DIGITAL DGTL - bringing streams from the line-up already billed, including the likes of Adriatique, JP Enfant, KiNK and Mind Against.

De Marktkantine, amsterdam

A firm favourite for many who enjoy Amsterdam nightlife, De Marktkantine has kept the dancing spirit alive by streaming with artists already billed for their now-cancelled events. We’ve been treated to streams from Tunnelvisions, Joris Vroon and Colyn and have many more coming up in the next few weeks.

resident advisor - Club Quarantäne | april 24th - 26th 2020

A unison between Resident Advisor, YouTube and creatives from the music community, Club Quarantäne has been one of the most unique and standout streams. Its fully interactive site made you wait in a virtual queue, allowed you to visit the toilets and go the the dancefloor, where 3D graphics gave a cool viewing for the 36-hour lineup.
